No Child Left Behind School Choice Transfer Program

No Child Left Behind School Choice Transfer Program

Overview

From 2003 through the 2015-16 school year, Title I programs were authorized through the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).   During those years, parents of children who attended schools identified as in Program Improvement (PI) had the option to transfer their children to a non-PI  school with transportation in the district.

With the new Title I authorization, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), new NCLB School Choice transfers will not be offered, starting in the 2016-17 school year.  However, students who transferred through this program to non-PI schools may continue in their choice school through the highest grade.  Students with these transfers, who have transportation provided, may continue to utilize the assigned buses grades K-6 and Regional Transit Bus Passes for grades 7-12.
