Multilingual Literacy (English Language Learners)
The Office of Multilingual Literacy is committed to narrowing the English Language Learners (ELL) achievement gap between native English speakers and English Language Learners, and help their families to support their academic success and cultural integration. The purpose of the program is to ensure that all students who are English Language Learners (ELLs), including immigrant children and youth, attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic attainment in English, and meet the same State academic content and student academic achievement standards as all students are expected to meet. Additionally, transitional bilingual and language immersion programs are offered as a means to nurture self‐pride and self‐ identity in each student’s linguistic and cultural heritage, as well as provide students the opportunity to master a second language.
Working in collaboration with our stakeholders, we will accelerate the academic achievement of our English Language Learners and prepare for college and/or career.
