Program Information

The Criminal Justice Academy (CJA) is offered through a partnership with the Sacramento Police Department. Students will be provided opportunities to explore the broad range of careers within the field of criminal justice during their enrollment in the program. Many students will be eligible to apply for the position of Public Service Aide with the SacPD, while continuing their education at a local college or university, possibly leading to a position as a sworn officer or full time civilian position with the City of Sacramento. This magnet academy includes all basic high school course requirements plus specialized training in the field of law enforcement. Students will study the basic course materials used by those in training to be police cadets. Additionally, the curriculum covers investigative procedures, forensic science, physical training and principles of the law.

Criminal Justice Student Outcomes

  • Awards for cadets with high GPAs and community service, leadership opportunity to become a rank officer (Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Company Commander) with responsibility for running aspects of the academy.
