End of Covid-19 Prevention Regulations Requirements
Dear SCUSD Community,
CalOSHA guidelines requiring contact tracing ended on 2/3/25.
SCUSD will no longer require reporting of Covid-19 for students.
Per CDPH guidelines, for purposes of school attendance, Covid-19
should be treated similar to other endemic respiratory illnesses
like flu or cold. Per CalOSHA, staff will continue to self-report
positive Covid-19 cases to CovidReport@scusd.edu. Health
Services staff will monitor cases for any outbreaks per CDPH
guidelines.

K-8 Open Enrollment Starts Today
The SCUSD Open Enrollment application for incoming Kindergarten through 8th Grade is open now through Friday, February 21, 2025, at 5:00 pm. This is your opportunity to apply for your child to attend a school other than their neighborhood school for the 2025–2026 school year, subject to space availability.

SCUSD Settles Versher Lawsuit With No Direct Payment to Plaintiff
Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District announced a settlement in the lawsuit brought by former employee Dr. Elysse Versher in June 2022. Versher alleged she was subjected to multiple forms of racism, harassment and retaliation during her employment as Assistant Principal at West Campus High School.

At the January 16 meeting of the Sacramento City Unified School District Board, the Board recognized 13 members of the Miwok Middle School Girls Cross Country team for winning the 2024 Middle School National Championships held in Louisville, KY. The national meet attracts top-level middle school teams from throughout the United States, including many state champions.

The School Accountability Report Card (SARC) aims to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. To download a copy of the SARC, click the language next to the school’s name. Also, upon request, a copy may be obtained from the school (Education Code §§ 35256, 51101).
Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Enrollment Starts Today. Don’t wait, register early!
Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten begins today, January 13, 2025. Many schools have limited spaces, so it’s important to register early to secure a spot at your neighborhood school.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Lottery
To be eligible for Transitional Kindergarten, children must turn four years-old on or before September 1, 2025. TK will be offered at 45 of our elementary and K-8 schools, and placement is determined through a lottery.
SCUSD and SEIU Reach Agreement on a New Contract
Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education unanimously approved a new two-year contract with Service Employees International Union, the labor partner representing hundreds of nutrition services workers, bus drivers, school office managers, instructional aides, technology support specialists, and other administrative and support staff.

December 19, 2024
At the December 19 meeting of the Sacramento City Unified School District Board, the Board recognized five students who attend Arthur A. Benjamin Health Professions High School as SCUSD Stellar Students: Tayler Sadler, Kayla Yang, Aydrien Tacuri, Joshua Mbah, and Luz Pascual. These five students consistently rank at the top of their class academically and serve as active agents of change within our school culture. They volunteer for community events and take an active role in organizing school activities.
2025-26 Transitional Kindergarten Lottery and Kindergarten Enrollment Opens January 13, 2025
Parent/guardians can begin enrolling their child in either Transitional Kindergarten (TK) or Kindergarten starting January 13, 2025. Please note that all enrollment applications will be processed online only.

November 21, 2024
At the November 21 meeting of the Sacramento City Unified School District Board, the Board recognized Samantha Vasquez, a 6th grade student at Pony Express Elementary, as a Stellar Student. Samantha has attended Pony Express since kindergarten, and has outstanding attendance. She is responsible and kind to all students. Samantha has served on the student council and been a member of the football and basketball teams for the past two years. She takes her sports and school work seriously, practicing daily and focusing on making progress.
SCUSD Organizes Holiday Drive to Support Unhoused Students and Families
Collecting new blankets, healthy snacks for students, pantry staples, hygiene items, and donations to help families experiencing housing insecurity
Sacramento, CA - Sacramento City Unified School District’s Homeless Education Services requests holiday season donations from the community to support unhoused students and their families. Beginning November 18, 2024, through December 21, 2024, donations can be brought to the Serna Center at 5735 47th Ave. and placed in the large blue bin in the Serna Center lobby.
The following types of items are requested to support our school community families experiencing housing insecurity:
California Healthy Kids Survey
Dear 6th, 7th, 9th, and 11th grade parents or guardians,
Your child is being asked to take a survey at school. The survey includes questions about alcohol, tobacco, and other drug issues, as well as questions about school safety and the learning environment. Student participation in the survey is voluntary. We hope that you will give permission for your child to participate in the survey so that his or her opinion and knowledge can be used to improve the school.
