Why did the Sacramento City Unified School District
change its Lice Management Guidelines in the 2018-2019 school
The Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) has recently
changed its lice management guidelines. In the 2018 school
year nurses began working on the revision. You may wonder
why. This is to explain the reason for the change and help
you understand why this does NOT put your child at more risk for
getting head lice.
Under State law SB 277, effective January 1, 2016 parents may no
longer cite personal beliefs to exempt their children from
vaccines required for school. Most families will not be affected
by the new law because their children have received all required
