Google Workspace for Education Additional Services FAQs

Overview

These include tools such as YouTube (with restrictions), Google Maps, Google Earth, and Google Translate. They are separate from the Core Services (e.g., Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, and Google Classroom) that students already use for daily instruction.

Google requires schools to obtain parent/guardian consent for students to access Additional Services.

If consent is not provided or is declined, your student will not be able to access the Additional Services starting August 18, 2025. They will still have access to Core Services (Gmail, Docs, Classroom, etc.).

These tools are optional but are often used to support instruction, enhance learning experiences, or provide additional resources in and outside the classroom.

You will receive a ParentSquare form on [Insert Date], where you can choose to give or decline permission. A separate form must be completed for each student enrolled in SCUSD.

ParentSquare is SCUSD’s communication platform for engaging with families. You can learn more on our Family Communications webpage.

To access the Google form, you must be logged in to your ParentSquare account. If you haven’t registered yet, please visit the ParentSquare sign-in page and enter your email address or phone number under the “Register” section to verify your identity. This form is linked to your student’s account in our system, which is why login is required.

If you are unable to access your account or information is inaccurate, please contact your school office or visit our ParentSquare FAQ

Each student in your household requires a separate consent form. After completing one form, ParentSquare will prompt you to complete another form for additional students. You can also login at any time before the deadline to complete additional forms.

The deadline for current TK–11th grade students is Thursday, June 12, 2025.

New SCUSD families will complete the consent form during the registration process.

Students without submitted consent—or whose guardians decline consent—will lose access to Google Workspace for Education Additional Services starting on August 18, 2025.
