Red Ribbon Week: October 24 – October 31, 2022

Principal Bulletin

Sacramento Unified School District (SCUSD) will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 24-October 31, 2022. The Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week. The theme for SCUSD this year is “Celebrate Life: Live Drug Free”. The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to present a visible commitment to living a safe, healthy, and drug-free life. The campaign is designed to create awareness concerning the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs and to support the decision to live a drug-free lifestyle.

We will be providing your sites with Red Ribbon Week supplies such as wristbands and posters to help with spreading awareness. Deliveries are scheduled to start October 10th. There will also be a resource guide that provides activities that can be used to engage your students and families in tobacco and vaping prevention. All activities provided in the resource guide are suggestions that can be used alone or alongside other prevention material that your school site may already be implementing in recognition of Red Ribbon Week.

Packet includes:

  1. History of and origin of the man behind Red Ribbon Week
  2. Suggested Spirit Days for the week
