Sacramento, CA - Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) will be distributing five (5) N95 or KF94 masks to every student in the school district. This is in addition to the distribution of N95 masks for all staff members which took place on Friday, January 14. Typical N95 masks fit children of middle school age and older, while the KF94 masks best fit younger children.

Sacramento, CA - Sacramento CIty Unified School District (SCUSD) has informed it’s schools that they will be receiving a shipment of N95 masks from the State of California via the Sacramento County Office of Education on Friday, January 14. Each school site will receive enough N95 masks to issue 20 of them to each staff member, along with contracted providers, volunteers, substitute staff, and also a backup supply for on-site needs.

Sacramento, CA – Today the Sacramento City Unified School District declared that it has reached an impasse in its efforts to negotiate with the Sacramento City Teachers Association (SCTA) over issues related to reopening schools for in-person instruction and independent study during the 2021-22 school year in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The district has submitted a request for an impasse determination from the Public Employment Relations Board.

Sacramento, CA – Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) announced today that all upcoming SCUSD hosted COVID-19 vaccination clinics will now serve all community members ages 5 and up. Ages 5 to 11 are now eligible to receive Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine through the emergency use authorization from the United States Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Students and Staff Approved by Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education
Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento City Unified School District took action at the October 12 Special Board of Education Meeting to require vaccinations against COVID-19 for both staff and eligible students (ages 12 and over) by November 30, 2021.
The process to submit vaccination records, or to file an exemption for medical or personal beliefs, will be announced later this month for those opting to undergo regular routine COVID-19 testing.

Sacramento City Unified Keeps Students on Campus Through Testing Program

Sacramento, CA – Sacramento City Unified School District today announced the status of its response to 24 cases at New Joseph Bonnheim Charter School since its reopening on Aug. 9. While Sacramento County Public Health (SCPH) initially recommended a school closure, SCPH reversed its initial recommendation after further evaluation and consultation of the district’s capability to quickly respond with testing and staffing to provide tests to all students and staff.

Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento City Unified School District oversees New Joseph Bonnheim, a dependent charter school that began in-person instruction on August 9, 2021, and is located in an area with high COVID transmission rates. The order to provide COVID tests for students came in a letter from Sacramento County Public Health (SCPH) today after 23 cases were discovered on the campus. According to SCPH, it appears more likely that transmission is occurring outside of the school campus.
