Sacramento, CA - Sac City Unified Board of Education Trustee, Taylor Kayatta, is presenting a Board Resolution to recognize June as Pride Month and host a flag raising event to celebrate our LGBTQ+ staff, students and community members.

“The Sacramento City Board of Education stands in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ students, staff, and families,” said SCUSD Board of Education Trustee, Taylor Kayatta. “This year’s Board resolution that includes raising the Pride flag here at our District Office and provides resources for safe spaces at every middle and high school lets our LGBTQ+ community know that we see them, support them, and are proud of them. Here in Sacramento, in contrast with some areas of the country, we stand behind our students as they figure out who they are.”

The flag raising event and press conference will take place at 8:30 am, and after speakers say a few words to commemorate the event, the flag will be raised through the end of June.

“In Sac City Unified we see, love, and support our LGBTQ+ students, staff, and community. Raising the Pride flag sends a strong message that we celebrate and care for each of our LGBTQ+ students and staff members,” said SCUSD Board of Education President, Chinua Rhodes.
