Sacramento City Unified School District to Expand COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics to Serve Ages 5 and Up
SCUSD Vaccination Clinics to Receive Pfizer-BioNTech Pediatric Vaccine Doses for Ages 5-plus Starting Wednesday, November 10

Press release

Sacramento, CA –  Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) announced today that all upcoming SCUSD hosted COVID-19 vaccination clinics will now serve all community members ages 5 and up. Ages 5 to 11 are now eligible to receive Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine through the emergency use authorization from the United States Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“The approval of the COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11 is very good news and will help protect the health of students, staff, and our community,” said Jorge A. Aguilar, Superintendent, Sacramento City Unified School District. “Many families in our District have been eagerly awaiting this news, and they will now be able to have a completely vaccinated household. We invite them to attend our vaccination clinics starting Wednesday, November 10.”

“We have seen the social-emotional benefits the COVID vaccine has brought to our students and staff, such as returning to school and extra-curricular activities that our students, families and staff enjoy,” said Victoria Flores, Student Support & Health Services Director III, Sacramento City Unified School District. “We are looking forward to providing this additional layer of safety for our students age 5 and up. With increased immunity and lower spread of COVID, our students are able to remain safely in school to further their academic and overall well-being.”

In addition to the vaccination sites listed below, staff and students are encouraged to also consider making a vaccine appointment or walk-in clinic through myturn.ca.gov.

Sacramento City Unified School District Vaccine Clinics are conducted with Del Paso Heights Vaccine Clinic, Sacramento County Public Health, Dignity Health, University of California Davis and other health partners.
