1 serving size = 15g of carbohydrates

  • Fruit has 15g of carbs per serving (small apple, one kiwi fruit)
  • Milk foods have 12g of carbs per serving (8 oz. glass of milk, 1 cup of yogurt)
  • Non-starchy vegetables have 5g of carbs per serving (1 cup raw or 1/2 cup cooked -   Salad greens, tomatoes, celery) 
  • Starchy vegetables have 15g of carbs per serving (1/2 cup of corn or peas,  1 cup of squash, small 3 oz. baked potato) 
  • Grain foods have 15g of carbs per serving (one slice of bread, 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 1/3 cup of rice or pasta, or a 6 inch tortilla)
