Enroll in Parent Participation Preschool Program
Your participation in preschool is a wonderful way to begin what will be many years of involvement in your child’s education.
About the Program
Parents work in the classroom at least one day a week in collaboration and guidance of the preschool teacher to help children develop a variety of skills including social and emotional development, collaborative play, and self-directed learning.
Parents also attend separate parent education classes (usually held in the evening) to learn parenting techniques to use in the classroom and at home.

SCUSD Scholarships Available for High School Seniors
If you are seeking financial assistance for college next year, we want to remind you that there are multiple scholarships for Sac City Unified students. Applying for scholarships is one of the most important steps students and families can take in paying for college.
Please visit our scholarship page at scusd.edu/scholarships for more information. The deadline to apply for district scholarships is April 1, 2022.

Apply to a High School Specialty Program
Applications accepted November 1-30
The High School Specialty Program Application is an opportunity for each student who resides permanently within the Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) boundaries to apply for enrollment in a SCUSD high school specialty program, based on space availability for the 2022-2023 school year. SCUSD offers specialty programs at both our neighborhood and small specialized high schools.

Guidance for Fall Celebrations
We know that many members of our community celebrate fall holidays. With that in mind, we ask that families be safe and take steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Students and Staff
In a Special Board of Education Meeting last night, the Sacramento City Unified School District took action to require vaccinations against COVID-19 for both staff and eligible students (ages 12 and over) by November 30, 2021, in compliance with Governor Newson’s announcement on October 1. The resolution adopted by the SCUSD Board can be read in its entirety on the SCUSD website.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month
School looks a little different this year for all students. Navigating cyberbullying can be difficult, especially during COVID-19. October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and bullying prevention is one way to support students to get the most from their education.

Postponement of Special Board Meeting on October 5
Dear Sac City Unified Families:
The Sac City Unified Board had planned to hold a special board meeting next Tuesday, October 5 to consider the option of a vaccine mandate for the Sac City Unified School District. In light of Governor Gavin Newsom’s announcement today about the implementation of a statewide vaccine mandate for students and school staff, the Sac City Unified special board meeting scheduled for October 5 has been postponed until October 12.
The Board’s regularly scheduled meeting on October 7 will be held as scheduled.
Deadline Extended to Change 2020-2021 Grades to Pass/No Pass
Dear Sac City Unified Families:
This summer, high school students had the opportunity to request a letter grade they received in the 2020-2021 school year be changed to a Pass/No Pass grade as part of Assembly Bill 104. The grade change deadline was extended by Assembly Bill 167 last week.

Register for Free Virtual California College Fairs this October
Join the California State University (CSU), University of California (UC) and California’s Independent Colleges & Universities in one virtual space at the same time!
Attendees will be able to join live sessions, watch campus videos and visit campus booths to live chat and/or meet with campus representatives. While fairs are scheduled in regions, students can attend any date that is best for them.

Transportation on SacRT
Fare-free transit for youth in grades TK through 12th
Youth in grades TK through 12 can take advantage of RydeFreeRT, the fare-free transit program for youth and students.
With RydeFreeRT, youth can ride the entire SacRT transit network, including SacRT buses, light rail, and SmaRT Ride on-demand microtransit service for FREE! RydeFreeRT is available all day, any day of the week during regular SacRT service hours.
Students just need a school student ID card or a RydeFreeRT card. No sticker is required to ride. Schools will be issuing new RydeFreeRT cards to all Sac City Unified students in the next few weeks.
