End-of-Year Message from Sac City Unified Superintendent Jorge Aguilar

Dear Sac City Unified Community,

The 2019-20 academic year was quite literally like none other. It has been difficult on our students, our teachers, our staff, and our community. This year has tested all of us to the core.

On top of closing out a very difficult year due to COVID-19, our awareness about the need to end systemic racism and violence has been heightened, as we stand with our community whose pain and anger have been rightly brought to the forefront by the senseless murder of George Floyd.

Every Student Matters: Sac City Unified Distance Learning Update

With two weeks of distance learning on the books, we are heartened by the stories of our students and their teachers reconnected after the long school closure. And while we celebrate those stories, our work doesn’t end there.

Our focus remains ensuring that our district meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of all of our children.

This means reaching out to our students to keep them engaged, assessing their safety and well-being, and making an exceptional effort to contact each and every student.

Starting tomorrow, April 13

Sac City Unified Presents its Distance Learning Plan
Students to begin distance learning on April 13

We recognize the mental toll that the coronavirus pandemic has taken on students, families, and employees as they anxiously await details that will shape our distance learning plans. We understand the stress felt by parents trying to adapt to homeschool, students coping with the disappointment of missing major milestones like graduations, and teachers worrying that their most vulnerable students’ basic needs are met. There is an urgent need to take action as every day of lost learning will have lasting impacts on the academic and social-emotional well-being of our students.

Update on Computer Distribution

This Friday and Saturday, Sac City Unified will distribute approximately 8,600 additional computers to our students. On April 3, Sac City Unified distributed approximately 3,500 computers to students.

Soon after our school closure began, Sac City Unified rush-ordered 20,000 laptops for our students but, like many other districts, we are still waiting for shipments of them to arrive. We will continue to distribute computers from our current inventory as we wait for shipments of new computers to arrive.
