Updates to SCUSD COVID-19 Health & Safety Plan

CDPH and Cal Osha have updated their respective COVID-19 Isolation and Testing Guidance for schools.  In accordance with our policy to follow CDPH and Cal Osha guidance, Health Services will be updating the school district guidance and contact tracing advisories for students and staff as of Friday, January 19. 

Changes to the COVID-19 Guidance:

Isolation Guidance:
  • Removing the requirement for 5 days of isolation
Testing Guidance: 
  • Removing the guidance to test after exposure to COVID-19 to only test if symptomatic.
Masking Guidance:
  • Removing the guidance to mask after exposure to COVID-19 to only mask if in contact with/live with someone who is high risk.  
Most Guidance Remains the Same:  
  • Requirement for students that if you test positive for Covid to report that to your supervisor or school office.
  • Supervisor/principal must report all cases to CovidReport@scusd.edu for contact tracing.  Requirement for SCUSD to conduct contact tracing and notify staff who are exposed to COVID-19. 
  • Requirement that employers/SCUSD must offer free tests to all employees. 
  • OTC tests will be available at all sites as long as available to all students and families.
  • Recommendation to test if you have any symptoms of COVID-19
  • Recommendation to test and to wear a mask after exposure if you will come into contact/live with persons who are high risk.
  • Requirement if you have COVID-19 to isolate/stay home until you have had no fever for 24 hours, without taking fever-reducing medication, AND your other symptoms are mild and improving.
  • Guidance for students and requirement for staff who have COVID-19 to wear a mask when you are around others indoors, even at home, for 10 days.
