Expanded Learning Program Update

e-Connections Post

Dear Sac City Unified Families

We know that before and after school care is an essential need for many working families, and we realize how frustrating it can be to receive a wait-list notice so close to the start of the school year. Our Expanded Learning Providers have extended job offers to many qualified individuals to meet the demand we are anticipating for this school year, but unfortunately there has been a backlog of background check clearances that still need to be received and processed.

We hope to have the before and after school care workers we need cleared very soon. Clearances are an essential part of our hiring practices to help keep your children safe, and that is why we cannot sidestep this measure. However, we have dedicated more staff to the Human Resources Department to help identify and expedite these clearances for Expanded Learning care workers the moment we receive them.

Expect to hear from us soon as we work to fully on-board our Expanded Learning team this school year so we can welcome your child. We are working rapidly to solve this problem.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,
