Discontinuation of SCUSD Testing Center

e-Connections Post

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has informed SCUSD they are terminating their support and funding for all Community Rapid Testing (“CRT”) at all organizations, including Sacramento City Unified. As a result, effective November 10, 2023, SCUSD’s Serna Covid Testing Center clinic will no longer be authorized to perform professional COVID-19 antigen tests using the CDPH Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) waiver.

SCUSD has only been able to provide CRT professional COVID-19 testing with this CLIA waiver from California Department Public Health (CDPH). The CDPH program provides the tests, provides training and funds the use of the Primary.Health testing platform to report and track the tests given. This waiver and testing support including funding will end effective 11/10/23.

As a result of the loss of this funding, SCUSD has closed the Serna Center Testing Center effective Thursday, 11/9/23.

SCUSD will continue to have access to Covid-19 testing with OTC tests. SCUSD currently has tens of 1,000+ OTC in storage and ability to order more. These are available for staff, students, and families to pick up from their school and work sites.
