As a SCUSD school site employee, you have a vital role in making
sure the SES process is smooth and efficient. Please keep
in mind the following:
SCUSD employees may not promote one SES provider over another in
the process of assisting parents choose an appropriate tutoring
provider.
The SES process mandates Parent Choice. Parents have the
right to choose to submit an application if their student attends
an eligible school and the parent/guardian must be the one to
choose the SES provider who will provide tutoring.
PI Choice is a federal program created several years ago to help
provide parents with school options. The federal government
is currently looking at how to improve the out-dated
legislation. In the meantime, PI Choice is still required.
PI Choice is often confused with the Open Enrollment process but
they are not the same. PI Choice is offered to parents who
attend schools in Program Improvement year 2 or more.
