State of California Masking Guidelines Announcement
Dear SCUSD District Families,
As you may know, the State of California made an announcement today regarding masking requirements in school settings. SCUSD will review the state’s new masking guidance and will continue to consult with Sacramento County Public Health for additional guidance based on local public health considerations. SCUSD will communicate any potential updates to our Health & Safety Guidelines regarding masking at the upcoming March 3 Board meeting and in a subsequent communication to District families and staff.
Take Our School Climate Survey
In Sacramento City Unified School District, your input on how our schools are doing is important to us. We hope you will take a couple of minutes to give us feedback by completing our school climate survey. The survey will be open from February 28 to March 25.
Positive school climate is important to us as we work towards equitable outcomes for all of our students. The social and emotional health of our students is a priority. Hearing from all members of our community on these issues is critical.

Dear Sacramento City Unified School District Families,
As we continue to see case rates rapidly decline in the County and our District, we are excited to announce the lifting of temporary extra-curricular restrictions which will likely take effect as early as February 22. We also have more information about our vaccination or testing mandate deadline as it relates to staff and students. Also, please read today’s eConnection or the communications sent earlier today with very important updates from our Board of Education meeting held last night.
Pedestrian and Driving Safety at Schools
Our return to in-person learning this school year has been made possible thanks to the new precautions that everyone is taking to make our schools safe. But there are safety precautions that we always needed to take for safety, and we wanted to take the time to remind you of them. As a community, many of us cycle and walk to-and-from school sites. The volume of pedestrians day-to-day requires safe routes, driver safety practices, and awareness to prevent accidents.

Dear Sacramento Unified School District Families,
We know many of our community members have been impacted by the recent spread of COVID-19 in the Sacramento area. We are grateful to everyone who tested at home and remained home due to experiencing symptoms, having an exposure or tested positive. While the at-home testing kits prevented over 500 exposures, our District community continues to experience a large number of positive cases since we have returned.
