Hiram Johnson Get Fit With the Kings Rally
Students at Hiram Johnson High School — an SCUSD “Priority School” targeted for turnaround — celebrated their achievements in academics and physical fitness during two high-energy rallies with the Sacramento Kings on Friday.
Johnson students scored significant gains on the California Standards Tests (CSTs), a series of exams taken last spring. Overall, the school rose 59 points on the state’s Academic Performance Index (API), which measures school improvement and growth.
African-American, Latino and English Language Learners made some of the biggest jumps, as a higher percentage of students demonstrated mastery of grade-level work in such subjects as math, biology, physics and Earth Science.
