Hello Site Leaders!

Student Attendance has been a struggle this school year, but January has brought us some unexpected success in getting students to school each and every day, so keep at it!  The district A & E Care Team will continue to support sites in their efforts to re-engage students, while you lead the efforts at your sites.  One way your efforts are supported are through EDLs INFORMATIONAL Attendance Letters that are sent to all students that are chronically absent or at-risk of slipping into the chronically absent group.  EveryDay Labs is and has been an important partner in our efforts to reduce absenteeism district-wide since 2018.  This Harvard research and evidence based program sends nudge letters via mail and text messages to families using a special algorithm created to have the most impact. Both the letters and texts are student specific and:

• Provide the number of days missed
• Helpful tips to support improving attendance
• A phone # to a family support team for ?s and concerns
• An option to opt out of future mailings/texts

These letters are kind, helpful, provide resources and are in no way punitive or harsh.  Please review them and share with staff so they are familiar when parents call:
