New Chronic Absence Data
As promised, we are sending you Tableau visualizations for school level chronic absence data at all schools district-wide. Chronic absence is defined as a student missing 10% or more of their enrolled school days. A school’s chronic absence rate is the percentage of students missing 10% or more of the school year. The state average in California in 2016-2017 was 10.8%, in SCUSD it was 15.1%.
In the data below, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 is end of year chronic absence rate and is static. The 2018-2019 data is current, refreshes daily and is meant to be a quick snapshot at school-wide data to guide your attendance practices and complement the information you are currently using from Infinite Campus and other tools.

September 2018 was the first Attendance Awareness Month for SCUSD, we had 23,902 students with perfect attendance (no absences or lates > 30) for the entire month! That’s over 60% of our students! We are so excited about all the work you have been doing at your sites to improve school attendance, raise awareness about the negative impacts of chronic absence and promote the Be HERE campaign! Please reach out if you’d like more information or support.
