K-8 Science Adoption
Elementary, K-8 and Middle Schools
Our teachers participated in voting around a 6-8th Science Course Pathway. 59.7% of participants voted for the CA Preferred Integrated instructional model for full implementation in the 20-21 school year pending Board approval. We will work closely with our teachers, administrators and other stakeholders to begin the transition. Please visit this FAQ for more information: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dSb1Ql5hC2XX1AYyngAKMYj7axqcY7Pe2Yyiv32atak/edit?usp=sharing.
We are postponing our adoption of K-5 instructional materials for science for a year. We will begin the K-5 adoption process next year, pilot K-5 instructional materials in the 20-21 school year and adopt new materials in the 21-22 school year.
Since our instructional pathway has been decided, we would like
to begin the adoption process of new science instructional
materials for 6-8th grade science. Teachers can apply to be on
the adoption committee by clicking here: https://forms.gle/6nL23FsFwNoUmf6R9.
The FAQ has resources for questions you might have about our 6-8th adoption. Our next immediate adoption event is a pre-screen of instructional materials on June 3rd (4 – 6 p.m.), June 4th (8 a.m. – 3 p.m.) and June 5th (8 a.m. – 3 p.m.). Substitutes will be provided for the days teachers will be out of the classroom to assist us with this important decision. Interested teachers must apply.
Applications are due Friday, May 17th, for our 6-8th science adoption committee. Applicants will be notified by Friday, May 24th.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to Aaron Pecho should
you have additional questions – the FAQs will be intermittently
updated as we move forward.
