High School Science Pathway and Adoption of New Instructional Materials
As a district, we set out to accomplish the following for high
school science: 1) determine a NGSS high school science pathway
for our students and 2) determine our next steps for a 9-12
curriculum materials adoption.
Our teachers participated in voting around a new HS Science Course Pathway. 75% of participants voted for the 3-Course Earth Integrated instructional model for high school science for full implementation in the 2020-21 school year.
Since our instructional pathway has been decided, we would like to begin the adoption process for 9-12. Teachers can apply to be on the adoption committee. Our next immediate adoption event is a pre-screen of instructional materials on April 30th and May 1st, from 4 – 7 p.m., at the Serna Center – teachers must apply to be invited to this event. All high school teachers who teach a core science class have been notified by email – it would help greatly if you could touch base with your science department or department lead to make sure they are actively in the loop on the process.
