District-Wide Math Professional Learning Opportunity: Routines for Reasoning
All SCUSD teachers are invited to engage and collaborate with
colleagues in grade-band segments for a five-part learning series
focused on understanding and implementing routines that promote
mathematical reasoning and foster the Standards for Mathematical
Sessions are held Wednesdays, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., at the Serna Center. Each session will focus on a different routine:
- January 22 – Capturing Quantities
- February 19 – Recognizing Repetition
- March 18 – Three Reads
- April 22 – Connecting Representations
- May 13 – Decide and Defend
Teachers who attend will have the option of receiving individualized support with classroom implementation.
There is no requirement to attend all five sessions. Upon
completion of any two sessions you can receive a copy of Routines
for Reasoning, the book that provided the basis for this
Participants will be paid at the per session rate or may earn hours towards salary advancement.
