Please feel free to share this link -(https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HPR4fRF0LgWMFd_dppcwV3Kzk9UeErf33upxBgLoe2o/edit) to a pdf created to highlight this year’s summer internship opportunities! It is downloadable as a pdf and attached here. If shared as a digital link, the document will be updated as new opportunities arise.

Requirements are taken from promotional materials provided by the program, programs are independent of SCUSD.

If your students are in need of resume assistance for this or summer employment opportunities, Junior Achievement is recommended (https://www.juniorachievement.org/web/ja-sac/ja-programs) for supports during the school day. Volunteers will come to your classroom and support students in work-readiness.

Further, work-ready materials aligned to Common Core ELA standards have been created. This open source material may be found here -(https://www.scusd.edu/pod/work-readiness-curriculum-0).

Outside of school, SETA jobs centers -(https://www.scusd.edu/pod/work-readiness-curriculum-0) are available for all and a great resource for youth.

Lastly, the City of Sacramento’s Youth Employment and Resource Fair is on Saturday, March 16, 2019. Students may register for this free event here – (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/city-of-sacramento-2019-youth-job-and-resource-fair-registration-55387140428).

Once your student is hired either by employment or in a summer internship, they should know their rights. A great curriculum on work place safety put out by the CDE and UC Berkeley can be found here -(https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/talkingsafety/states/ca/2015-173/default.html). Students can also access this information on Instagram (youngworkers_CA) and with the app – Are You a Working Teen?
