Health Professions High School students invited to read from their published anthology on the power of healing

WHAT:                                 Health Professions High School students will read aloud personal stories from their book “Breath and Bones” as a discussion event for the UCD 2012-13 Campus Community Book Project at the UCD School of Medicine

                                                “Breath and Bones” is a collection of poetry, personal narratives and short stories written by the Health Professions Creative Writing Club in collaboration with 916Ink, a non-profit literacy initiative modeled after San Francisco’s successful 826 Valencia founded by award-winning author Dave Eggers.

WHY:                                    UC Davis’ Campus Community Book Project was initiated after September 11 to                                                                                               promote dialogue and build community by encouraging diverse members of the                                                                                              campus and surrounding communities to read the same book and attend                                                                                                            related events.

“Breath and Bones” is a powerful anthology in which students write honestly about the healing power of words. The book project provides a catalyst for exploring ideas and issues relevant to our contemporary lives.
