SCUSD honors students who persevered with Fall Graduation
Heartfelt ceremony gives teens that fell short of graduation requirements in June a chance to walk the stage with peers

Press release

November 1, 2013 (Sacramento) – Members of the Class of 2013 who fell short of completing graduation requirements last spring will accept their diplomas at a traditional graduation ceremony on Monday (November 4).

Fifty young people will graduate with peers and before their cheering families at SCUSD’s Fall Graduation, an event that pays tribute to teens who worked over the summer to earn their high school diplomas. The ceremony will include a customary procession to “Pomp and Circumstance,” ROTC color guard, speakers and traditional caps and gowns.

SCUSD is one of few districts in the area to honor post-June graduates with their own ceremony, “We feel it is necessary to honor the perseverance of these young people,” said Superintendent Jonathan Raymond.  “Some of them have triumphed over great odds to earn their diplomas and move forward.”

SCUSD Board of Education Vice President Darrel Woo will deliver the commencement address.
