SCUSD Board expected to appoint next superintendent on Thursday

Press release

June 13, 2014 (Sacramento): The Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education is expected to appoint a permanent superintendent during its closed session on Thursday, June 19. An announcement in open session will follow the decision.

SCUSD has been without a permanent superintendent since December 2013, when former superintendent Jonathan Raymond left the district to spend more time with his immediate and extended family in his native Boston. Dr. Sara Noguchi, a former teacher, principal and central office
administrator, was appointed Interim Superintendent after Raymond’s departure and has served in that post for the past six months.

Established in 1854, Sacramento City Unified has approximately 43,000 students at 75 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Sacramento region.
