Any student or staff member who tests positive for COVID-19 must stay home and contact their supervisor or principal. Supervisors must report immediately to Health Services via email to covidreport@scusd.edu for contact tracing.

Anyone who has symptoms must also remain home and follow the guidance below:

Stay Home if you have any of the following symptoms

  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell

Test for COVID-19 with an OTC Test

Keep a supply of OTC COVID-19 tests at home. Get the tests for free from your school office or at the Serna Testing Clinic.

If the COVID-19 test is NEGATIVE

Return to school if at least 24 hours have passed since fever (without the use use of reducing medicines) and symptoms have improved.

If the COVID-19 test is POSITIVE

Stay home and notify your principal/supervisor. A contact tracer will contact you to provide guidance on return to work/school.

Exposure Protocol

Students and staff regardless of vaccination status may continue to attend school/work as long as they do not develop symptoms of illness.  Exposed individuals are recommended to:

  • Monitor for COVID-19 symptoms
  • Get tested 3-5 days after exposure
  • Wear a well-fitting mask for a total of 10 days after exposure
