Raised in Sacramento by a struggling single mother; Jessie’s mom
taught her that education was the key to opportunity in life. A
proud product of public education, Jessie has spent more than a
decade at the Campaign for College Opportunity where she works to
increase college access and success for young people across the
state. She successfully led efforts to improve college
opportunities for thousands of low-income students in California
and simplify the transfer process from community colleges to
Trustee Darrel Woo is serving in his second four year term.
As the son of a Chinese immigrant, Trustee Woo learned early the
importance of education as a means to succeed in America.
From birth, the importance of a college education was not only
instilled in him, but his parents served as examples of the
quality of life that a college education can bring. The
education that Trustee Woo earned, all the way through the
University of California at Berkeley, was public.
Michael has worked in the child and youth development field for
over 25 years and has been a parent in the Sacramento City
Unified School District since 2003. Michael is an Adjunct
Professor of Early Childhood Education at Sacramento City College
and a runs a youth development consulting firm.
He earned a Baccalaureate Degree in Child Development and a
Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from
Sacramento State University.
