LBHS Student Wins Bronze in Statewide Art and Civics Competition

Twelve talented students from LBHS participated in this year’s Operation Protect and Defend/Modern Masters Art Competition, sponsored by California Lawyers for the Arts. The competition challenged students from across the region to create artwork in response to a powerful prompt:
"How do we or should we ensure unbiased, non-discriminatory, and fair jury trials in our country of mixed races, ethnicities, genders, religions, and backgrounds?"

We’re proud to share that LBHS senior Johny Madrigal was awarded the Bronze Prize for his thoughtful and compelling piece, earning a $300 cash award. Johny’s work stood out among submissions from high school students across the area, and he is pictured here with his winning entry.

Congratulations to Johny and to all the students who used their creativity to engage in this important civic dialogue through the arts!
