Dear SCUSD Families and Staff,
Last night, the SCUSD Board of Education approved the student academic calendar for 2026-27, which includes an earlier start date and end date than in years past.
The first day of school for all students, TK through 12th grade, will be Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The last day of school will be Thursday, May 27, 2027.
- 2026 Fall Break: November 23-27
- 2026-27 Winter Break: December 21-January 4
- 2027 Spring Break: March 22-29

Dependent Charter Schools: New Joseph Bonnheim, Sacramento New Tech, and The Met operate on a different academic calendar. These school communities will be notified once their calendar is approved.
Staff Work Calendars: We will update you, once the District and labor partners reach agreement on 2026-27 work dates.
This change to more closely align the SCUSD academic calendar with those of neighboring school districts was the result of collaboration with labor partners, and the feedback from our families. The results of the two surveys that helped inform this decision can be found below:
