e-Connections Post

Dear Sacramento City Unified School District Families,

Happy Friday! Below is a snapshot of COVID-19 impact on our schools for the week of February 7 through February 11.

  • 24,500+ COVID-19 tests provided
  • 1.7% positivity rate for staff and students
  • 89.8% student attendance rate*

As we continue to see a sharp decline in new cases of omicron, we are hopeful that there will be some relief soon with all the learning and extracurricular activity disruption that our community has experienced.

NO SCHOOL MONDAY, FEBRUARY 14 & MONDAY, FEBRUARY 21

In observance of President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday and President Washington’s birthday/Presidents Day, schools will be closed on Monday, February 14 and Monday, February 21. We hope that our students enjoy their 3-day weekends safely.

SERNA COVID-19 TESTING CENTER OPEN FOR FEBRUARY MONDAY HOLIDAYS

In hopes of our students and staff getting tested for COVID-19 on the upcoming Monday school holidays prior to returning to school, our Serna testing center will be open from 10am to 4pm in service to our community. If you haven’t already done so, please register your child for COVID-19 testing today to help us stop the spread of COVID. Monday testing at Albert Einstein Middle School will be closed this Monday, February 14.

Below are our hours for testing this coming week in addition to surveillance testing at our schools:

Serna Center Testing

  • Monday through Thursday: from 10am-4pm
  • Fridays from 10am-3pm (shortened hours due to vaccination clinics on Fridays from 4-7pm)

Albert Einstein Middle School Testing

  • Tuesday through Friday: 4-7pm

TAKE-HOME COVID-19 TEST KIT DISTRIBUTION

Take-home test kits are being sent home today to all of our schools with surveillance testing on Mondays, plus all of our elementary, K-8 and middle schools. Next week, the rest of our schools should receive free take-home tests! Learn how to report your results with this tutorial video. Download take-home test kit flyers in six languages and learn more with yesterday’s eConnection

CURRENT MASKING REQUIREMENTS

There’s a lot in the news about mask restrictions changing, so we want to remind our community of the current guidelines in place until further notice. Masks are required for all individuals in the following settings, regardless of vaccination status.

We understand CDPH may issue further guidance next week. We will keep our community posted on any new information shared and how this impacts our health and safety measures within SCUSD.

N95 AND KF94 MASKS

By last week, every student and staff member should have received N95 and KF94 masks, which the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has recognized as the most effective mask types for preventing the spread of COVID-19. The KF94 masks that fit younger children have ear straps, but if you need support wearing the N95 masks correctly which fit older children and adults, check out this helpful video that shows you how to put on an N95 mask.

SCUSD COVID-19 VACCINATION OR TESTING REQUIREMENT

By February 28, if you haven’t already done so, we ask that you report your student’s vaccination status to SCUSD or register for regular testing so your student can be in compliance with our vaccination requirement. Learn more. Please see below for upcoming vaccine clinics.
