e-Connections Post

Dear Sac City Unified Families,

We are closing in on the end of the 2021-22 school year, but we still have many updates and events to share as we head into the summer months.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY COVID COMMUNITY LEVEL UPDATE

Sacramento County remains at the High Community Level, as both the case rate (329.69) and hospitalizations (15.1) per 100,000 significantly increased from last week.  Because of this continuing trend, indoor masking will be required through the end of the school year on June 16.

We recognize the indoor masking decision was not popular with everyone, but we appreciate the understanding and cooperation our families have shown to help us get through these final days as safely as possible.

VACCINATION AND TESTING CLINICS

In addition to masking, we also have tools like vaccination, testing and treatments to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.  We have a vaccination clinic at Serna Center (5735 47th Ave.) today, Friday, June 10, from 4-6pm.  Students aged 5-11 are now eligible for a booster. We also have free COVID-19 testing available at three locations:

  • Serna Center | Monday-Thursday 10am-4pm, Friday 10am-3pm
  • Albert Einstein Middle School | Monday-Friday 4-7pm
  • Pannell Meadowview Community Center | 10am-6pm

You also may find information about the Test to Treat program here.

GRADUATIONS AND COVID TESTING

Let’s celebrate an incredible year with the peace of mind that comes with a negative COVID test!  As we prepare for graduations and other spring celebrations, even if you’re vaccinated against COVID-19, we strongly encourage you to test before and after attending these events.  We know that vaccinations protect against serious illness in most cases, but even mild cases can spread to vulnerable, high-risk members of our community.  Protect each other by getting tested and learn more here. Have fun celebrating!

SCUSD BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

Due to technical difficulties, there was limited streaming capability of last night’s SCUSD Board of Education meeting.  Staff presented an update on the District’s 2022-2023 proposed budget to reflect changes after the Governor’s May Revise.  You can see the presentation that was shared with the Board hereLinks to all other board presentations from Thursday are available here, including recipients of the State Seals of Biliteracy and Civic Engagement.

There were 43 students from seven schools in Sacramento City Unified who participated in this contest!

The students were from these schools: Pacific Elementary, Albert Einstein Middle School, Fern Bacon Middle School, Sutter Middle School, California Middle School, Rosemont High School, and Kit Carson International Academy. We celebrate all of the students who submitted their videos to the contest. Ten of our students were finalists in their categories. Three of our students won SEVA awards. Congratulations!
