MAY IS AAPI HERITAGE MONTH & MENTAL HEALTH MONTH

The AANHPI community contributes a beautiful diversity of cultures and languages to our country. While we recognize their contributions, it’s also important to acknowledge the work we still need to do to support AANHPI communities and make our community safe and inclusive for everyone. INCREASED COVID SPREAD IN SACRAMENTO  COUNTY

While Sacramento County remains in the low community rating per the CDC, the county is experiencing an increase in positive cases, reflected in our school site testing results and positive case rates (SCUSD COVID Dashboard). While the masking mandate has been lifted, face masking is strongly recommended, especially when gathering groups during the school day. We are encouraging physical distancing as much as possible. Hosting activities and events outdoors is strongly encouraged and advised. Please review the updates made on May 9 to our Return to Health Plan for large indoor gatherings.

MASKING STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

Throughout California, including Sacramento County and SCUSD, we are experiencing an increase in positive COVID cases.  Layered prevention strategies, like staying up-to-date on vaccines and wearing masks, can help prevent severe illness and reduce the potential for strain on our healthcare system. We want to remind our community that face masking is strongly recommended by California Department of Public Health (CDPH) although not currently required in our schools. Free face masks are readily available at all our school sites and district locations.

COVID VACCINATION & TESTING CLINICS

We have free COVID vaccination clinics on Fridays from 4-6pm at Serna Center (5735 47th Ave.). Learn more and register here. Students, staff and household members in our school community may also access free COVID testing at one of three locations. Learn more and register to test here
