Update on Email Spamming Issue

e-Connections Post

We are following up with you regarding an email spamming issue affecting student and family accounts.

This morning a student discovered a misconfigured setting within a Google Distribution Group containing all district students. This flaw allowed anyone in the group to send an email to everyone else in the group.

The student sent an innocuous “hi” email to the group, which quickly led to more than 400 additional emails. Some of the student emails contained inappropriate responses and other subjects and will be investigated

Within 30 minutes, Technology Services shutdown all student emails until the issue could be resolved. No staff, student, or family data was compromised during this incident.

We apologize for the inconvenience and we have resolved the configuration issue.
