Tahoe Elementary School student Tatum Riordan recently won a “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” prize package from author Jeff Kinney for her outstanding work in a national contest sponsored by Scholastic.

The third grade student in teacher Dawn Orosco’s class was selected as a runner up in the contest — one of only 10 runners up nationwide in the Jeff Kinney Design-a-Character Contest.

Riordan drew her own comic character and included details about the character.

“She is a super talented writer and artist,” says Orosco. “I was so excited when she placed in the contest.”
