Superintendent Aguilar and SCUSD Board Members Join #RedForEd Rally at State Capitol

e-Connections Post

From Superintendent Aguilar’s Blog:

“Our students and families deserve fair and full funding for education. That is why this afternoon I will be joining Board President Jessie Ryan, other members of our Board and thousands of educators at today’s #RedforEd Rally at the State Capitol.

The financial challenges facing Sac City Unified are evidence that California is not investing enough resources in the education of our students. The sad reality is that although the public demands it, the current financial structure for education in this state does not supply school districts with enough resources to pay for the educational experiences our students need, while also being able to pay our hard-working teachers, classified staff, principals and other school employees the competitive salaries and benefits they deserve. Rather than debating with each other over how to sustain ourselves with limited resources, today we are coming together to advocate for more resources for K-12 education. We are stronger together and our students are best served when we work together to advocate on their behalf.

Our schools may be underfunded today. However, we can work together to change that reality for the future. I am excited and inspired as ever to stand alongside thousands of other educators in this state to demand that change.”
