SCUSD Teacher Credential Program A Success
More than a year ago, SCUSD entered into a partnership with the Sacramento County Office of Education and Brandman University to help classified district employees obtain their teaching credential while working for the district. The California Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program targets classified employees in school districts across the state.
The program helps provide financial assistance as well as guaranteed employment in a credentialed position upon completion of the program. The partnership has been a great success and 7 of our classified employees will be graduating this June.
Here is the list of our graduates:
- Kyle Allen from Success Academy
- Christine Ascalon from Isador Cohen Elementary School
- Patricia Dent from Hiram Johnson High School
- Ashley Garland from Edward Kemble Elementary School
- Marci Hicks from A.M. Winn Waldorf
- Tracy Huynh from C.K. McClatchy High School
- Matt Wood from Washington Elementary School
The group will be receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and a minor in Education. The graduates will now be able to enroll in SCOE’s credential program and we will hire them once they become intern eligible.
We are very proud of our employees. This is not the only good news, we learned that SCOE has additional funding and we will reach out to additional candidates for the next round.
The graduation will take place this June 1 at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. Congrats to all the graduates!
