Sac City Unified hosting webinar to teach parents how to engage in School Site Councils
Parental involvement is a critical element of a student’s success. The more involved a parent is in their child’s education and at their school site, the more the school will thrive. School site councils are an excellent way for parents to get involved in decision-making.
School Site Councils play a vital role in decision-making in many schools. The council is composed of the principal and representatives of teachers selected by teachers, other school personnel selected by other school personnel, parents of pupils attending the school selected by the parents, and, in secondary schools, pupils selected by pupils attending the schools.
What does the School Site Council offer parents?
- The opportunity to be a part of the decision-making that can bring positive change to students
- Represent the school community and take responsibility for the achievement of all students
- Learn about school governance and funding
The Office of State and Federal Programs hosted a School Site Council training webinar on October 1, 2019 for all School Site Council members and those interested in joining a school site council. The webinar provided an overview of the purpose of the School Site Council, as well as the role and responsibilities of council members.
