e-Connections Post

We understand many families are making plans now for next school year. To help with your planning, the district would like to share its proposed academic calendar for the 2019-20 school year. Click here to read about the many benefits to students of these proposed changes.

Under our proposal, the first day of school would be August 14, 2019. The last day of school would be May 28, 2020.

While our Board of Education has approved the proposed calendar changes, please note they are subject to negotiations to the extent it impacts the work year of our employees. The district has reached agreement with several of its labor partners on our proposed calendar changes. We hope to reach agreement with all labor partners soon and will keep you posted.

The proposed calendar adjustment is critical to address the needs of our students and families. For far too long, our students have missed out on summer enrichment and other opportunities because our schools start and end their school year so much later than surrounding school districts and community colleges. The proposed changes will put our district’s calendar closer in line with neighboring school districts. We also believe it will increase student attendance at the beginning of the school year when many of our students have historically missed class due to school starting in close proximity with the Labor Day Holiday.
