Masking and Extra-Curricular Guidelines Update

e-Connections Post

Dear Sacramento City Unified School District families,

We have an exciting update! As of today Sacramento County fell below 50 cases per 100K residents on February 9th, with a listed case rate of 47.3, and has held below that threshold for two weeks, so we are able to lift the temporary blanket restriction on extra-curricular activities that was imposed during the omicron surge, effective tomorrow, February 23! The current case rate as of 2/18 is 22 new cases per 100k, however this data may fluctuate slightly as the county updates their dashboard.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR RESTRICTIONS LIFTED

The below activities may resume, effective 2/23/22:

  • Field trips (including those scheduled for Sly Park in March)
  • Extra-curricular activities held during and after school
  • Non-essential tournaments or competitions
  • Group orientations and in-school tours

OUTDOOR MASKING REQUIREMENT LIFTED

Face masks may be removed for outdoor activities, such as PE, recess or lunch, where students can keep reasonably distanced. Face masks should be worn in scenarios such as entering into a building, lining up to enter a classroom, or during passing periods when hallways are crowded and students are entering a classroom. It’ll be great to see those smiling faces when our students run and play outside! Individuals may choose to continue outdoor masking and face masks will continue to be readily available for all individuals.
