Kennedy, SES Students Participate In 8th Annual California SMUD Solar Regatta

e-Connections Post

Congrats to John F. Kennedy high school and School of Engineering and Sciences students on their excellent performance in the 2019 SMUD Solar Regatta! High School and college students throughout the region designed, built and raced full-sized, solar-powered boats in this annual competition. Nice work!

The event took place at Rancho Seco Recreational area. Over 400 students from 20 high schools raced solar-powered boats they designed and built themselves. The SMUD Solar Regatta is filled with fun, teamwork, and competition.

Students work in teams to design, build, and race their solar boats. Teams are judged on speed, distance, and agility. This is an outstanding day to demonstrate knowledge of renewable energy and engineering. SES won the spirit award!  Way to go Rockets!
