Heat Guidance

e-Connections Post

SCUSD is aware that the Sacramento County Public Health and Department of Emergency Services has issued guidance about excessive heat over the coming Labor Day weekend and into Tuesday.

SCUSD will take the following steps to support our school communities during this heat wave.

Regularly scheduled outdoor athletics events for this weekend may continue following the standard precautions taken below:

  1. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water – highlight the locations of water fountains or bottle filling station on your campus.
  2. Limit time outdoors if possible, particularly during the hottest part of the day
  3. When outdoors, seek out shade as much as possible

On Tuesday, September 6th, schools will adhere to all the above guidelines and move all activities indoors between the hours of noon-8pm, including Physical Education classes, athletic events and practices, and expanded learning activities.

SCUSD will continue to monitor temperature and air quality, and will provide further guidance as needed based on the current and forecasted conditions.
