The District is proud to share that on September 20, 2019, Mr. Ron Stratton, a plant manager at Golden Empire Elementary School, was honored with the prestigious “Community Partnership Award” at the Sac State College of Education’s 30th Annual Better Together Community Partnership Awards! Sac State presents this award every year to an extraordinary individual who is dedicated to improving the state of local schools and districts.

“Ron is not only the backbone of Golden Empire, he’s also the backbone of this community. He has a sixth sense…he can look at a student or a family, and know what they need,” said Golden Empire Principal Irene Eister. “He is the reason why so many former students come back to visit Golden Empire years after they have graduated, and are in their high school and college years.”

In the Rosemont community, Mr. Stratton is known beyond the walls of Golden Empire. He volunteers for the Special Olympics and helps coach sports teams. He is the driving force behind the very popular annual community pancake breakfast that raises thousands of dollars for the school. At school, Mr. Stratton is the consummate professional, routinely arriving at the school at 5:30am to make sure the campus is ready and functioning properly. Every morning he greets students with fist bumps, smiles, silly jokes and a pat on the back. He knows all the students and works with students that are struggling with behavioral issues by providing mentorship and needed guidance and structure.

“The value of a well-maintained school goes far beyond having a clean classroom or office—this work furthers our mission by enhancing and directly contributing to a child’s ability to learn,” said Superintendent Aguilar in a recent email to all staff sharing the announcement of Mr. Stratton’s award. ”It impacts how our kids feel about themselves. It helps support our teachers in their efforts to connect with students. As Principal Eister pointed out, it can make or break the school day,”

Congratulations of Mr. Ron Stratton for this truly well-deserved accomplishment! The District is very proud to have you as part of #TeamSCUSD.
