2022-2023 Back-to-School Masking, Forms & More!

e-Connections Post

Dear Sac City Unified Families,

School starts one week from today! We’re so excited to see your student on the first day of school: Thursday, September 1. Here are some important updates, forms and resources to help get you and your child ready.

IS INDOOR MASKING REQUIRED ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL?

No, masks are not required indoors at this time. However, indoor masking is strongly recommended. Today’s CDC county COVID community level update shows Sacramento County in the medium community level. According to our district policy, that means masking will be recommended indoors but not required for the first day of school.

If Sacramento County moves back into the high level, indoor masking will be required the following Monday and you will receive a communication from us to let you know.

Watch this short video with up-to-date information about masking and vaccinations from our Director of Student Support and Health Services.

PARENT & STUDENT RIGHTS HANDBOOK

Each year, we update and distribute our Parent and Student Rights Handbook. This document contains a wealth of information to help you through the coming school year. It’s important that you review and fill out the last page of the handbook. The last page includes options around student images, military recruitment, release of information and more. It allows for an electronic signature. Please complete this form as soon as possible

FILLING OUT THE LCFF PROTECTS FUNDING

All families play a critical role in ensuring our Sac City Unified schools are properly funded. You can do your part by completing the required Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) application by October 31, 2022. It only takes a few minutes for you to help us protect critical funding for our students!

  • Fill out one application per household, whether online or paper, by October 31, 2022. The online application is also available in district supported languages.
  • Include all children and adults living in the household.
  • Families who wish to complete the paper application will receive it in their student’s Back to School packet. Please return the completed application to their school’s front office.
  • Please note that all the information submitted remains strictly confidential.

If you have any questions, please email LCFFsupport@scusd.edu or visit scusd.edu/lcffapp.

MILLION FATHER MARCH

Studies show that students’ academic outcomes improve when a committed father or father figure is involved in their academic lives, and the correlation is strong across all socioeconomic backgrounds. Dads, send a message to your student that you care by taking them to school on their first day! You can also take the Million Father March Pledge and commit to helping with school-related activities. Learn more on the Black Parallel School Board website. Ask your school site if they have a Parent and Student Guide for Academic Success booklet for you, or email info@blackparallelschoolboard.com.

FREE BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CARE

The before and after school programs managed by our Youth Development department are grant-funded and families do not need to pay for these programs. Free Expanded Learning programs are available for all Sac City Unified students entering Transitional Kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn more about our before and after school expanded learning options for your student and apply today on our Youth Development website.

Please note that some of our sites have before or after school programs that are not operated by our Youth Development department and may be fee-based. Contact your school site to find out about all the before and after school program options that are available to your student.
