The SCUSD Volunteer
Office, managed by the Community, Health & Education Support Services
(CHESS) unit, provides support for school sites to assist them in the safe
and effective utilization of volunteers. Working in partnership with
SCUSD Human Relations/Personnel office, we oversee the sex offender check
and fingerprinting/background check process for volunteers. We work with
local colleges and universities to formalize internship projects, develop
partnerships with local community organizations wishing to undertake a
community service project in the schools and serve as the primary district
liaison to governmental agencies sponsoring volunteer programs of various
types. We also provide training to school sites on various topics to
assist them in working with volunteers.
Training
topics include:
Recruiting Parent and Community Volunteers
Volunteer Screening Requirements
Developing an Annual Plan for Volunteer Utilization
Motivating and Retaining Volunteers
Evaluating Volunteers
Volunteer Record Keeping
If you have questions
