Program Information

The mission of VAPA is to promote higher academic achievement, develop marketable career skills, encourage continued education, and enhance the quality of life in our community through the Arts. Within VAPA, students will be provided with opportunities to explore careers within the broad fields of art, entertainment, and media; to understand the relationship between academic success and success in the workplace; and to develop the necessary skills to sustain a meaningful career in their chosen field. The experiences and training students receive VAPA will give them a solid educational foundation and prepare them for continued education and future career opportunities.

Students who live within the SCUSD boundaries can submit an online application October 30 - November 17, 2023. Students who live outside the SCUSD boundaries can apply through the permit process April 15 - May 3, 2024. 

A portfolio for one of the four specialties (visual art, theater, music or dance) must be submitted to the C.K. McClatchy VAPA program by November 17, 2023. Instructions on how to submit a portfolio can be found at http://ckmvapa.org/apply-instruct-inform.
