The Office of School, Family and Community Partnerships provides
training, information and technical assistance to assist all
SCUSD schools in the creation of effective school-family
partnerships. The Partnerships Office supports families and
schools in building capacity for achievement focused family
engagement through the following programs:

On February 15, 2012, parents,school staff and
students joined together to celebrate the opening of the new
John Still Elementary School Parent Resource Center.
Parents took the lead in creating the beautiful and welcoming
environment for parent engagement activities in a space provided
by the school. Principal, George Porter welcomed parents to
the site and congratulated the committee on the site design,
which features resource materials, a job posting board, a child
care area and a bank of computers for parents trainings and use.

The Family Academy is a community collaborative effort led by the
Sacramento City Unified School District. The Family Academy is
currently constructing a web-site to provide SCUSD parents with
an on-line calendar of events that will connect them to courses,
workshops, and family learning activities offered within the
school district, and various organizations and institutions in
Sacramento. In addition, the Family Academy is partnering
with organizations and institutions to make courses and family
learning activities available for SCUSD families.
The Parent Information Exchange (PIE) was established in 1999 as
an opportunity for SCUSD parents and school site and district
staff to exchange information with community agencies providing
free and low-cost services to students and their families.

coordinates the monthly luncheon meetings that bring together key
representatives from school parent groups, SCUSD
staff,community organizations, city and county agencies
and business partners to discuss their programs and services
