Web Content Access Issues
Recently, Google, YouTube and several other Web-based providers began encrypting data, preventing internal systems from identifying and restricting inappropriate content. To continue to meet our obligation to deliver safe content to our schools, the District now leverages several tools, including classification systems maintained by Google and YouTube, to identify and filter potentially unsafe content.
Unfortunately, video, images and other materials are often misclassified by Google and YouTube. As a result, valuable instructional content is sometimes blocked – even if it was available in the past.
We understand that this change in process is disruptive and inconvenient, and we are actively working with our vendor to find suitable alternatives to the current approach. In the interim, we recommend verifying the availability of external Web content intrinsic to instruction before use to avoid potential disruption.
